CALGARY, AB – John Law, a leader in Canada’s transportation and infrastructure sector, has joined the Canada West Foundation’s Centre for Trade & Investment Policy as a senior fellow.
Law’s career has had a big impact on government thinking about transportation development. A former Saskatchewan deputy minister, he has played a role in developing national and interprovincial transportation policy. His work has spanned a number of senior positions in industry and government, including President of the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) and Chair of the Canadian Council of Deputy Ministers responsible for Transportation and Infrastructure.
“We are pleased to add to our research team John’s knowledge and expertise in the crucial role of transportation infrastructure for both internal and international trade,” said Canada West Foundation President and CEO, Martha Hall Findlay.
Previously, Law was founder and CEO of Saskatchewan’s Global Transportation Hub, and Deputy Minister of the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure. Law is currently President of Lawmark International, which provides integrated business development, logistics and regulatory support services in western Canada.
Law is the co-author of the Foundation’s 2014 report, Building on Advantage: Improving Canada’s trade infrastructure, that argued that Canada must develop a better trade infrastructure plan or risk losing ground to global competitors. He also wrote The Infrastructure that Matters Most, a 2016 report produced by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Canada West Foundation.
