The Western Economy Project
Monitoring economic activity in the four western provinces, exploring and debating the role of public policy in western Canada's economic success and communicating the economic characteristics of the region and the opportunities these present to national and international audiences are the three main themes of our Western Economy Project.
Canada West Foundation economics team publishes four economic profiles and forecasts each year (one for each western province), conducts a variety of economic research, organizes events on economic topics, participates in regional and national economic policy discussions, generates practical recommendations for improving economic policy in Canada and informs and encourages debate about the western economy through media commentary.
The Western Economy Project also produces the monthly magazine Currents, an economic snapshot of the four western provinces sponsored by Canadian Western Bank.
