Angie Bruce is a proud Red River Métis woman from St. Laurent, Manitoba, and a nationally recognized leader, trailblazer, and bridge builder in Indigenous policy, governance, and economic development. As Vice-President (Indigenous) at the University of Manitoba, she advances the transformation of the University and its reconciliation actions through research, education, and community engagement.
With a distinguished career across federal and provincial governments, Ms. Bruce led the creation of the Indigenous Loan Guarantee Program, now a $10 billion fund that empowers Indigenous communities to secure equity in major projects. She also expanded Natural Resources Canada’s Indigenous Natural Resource Partnerships Program to $100 million and developed the department’s first Indigenous Research Ethics policy.
A former Deputy Minister in Manitoba, she oversaw the province’s highest number of Treaty Land Entitlement transfers at it’s time and has held senior roles with national Indigenous healing organizations. Ms. Bruce holds an MBA from the Asper School of Business and is a PhD candidate at Nipissing University.
