I have lived in Dawson Creek my entire life and began my involvement in politics in 1993 when I was first elected to the Dawson Creek City council as a councillor. In 1996 I ran for the position of Mayor of Dawson Creek and was successful in my run. I served as Mayor of Dawson Creek from 1996-2001 when I ran for the position of Member of the Legislative Assembly for the riding of Peace River South and was successful. I served as the MLA for 12 years leaving provincial politics in 2013 when I chose not to run again. During my 12 years as MLA I had the honour to serve under Premier Gordon Campbell and Premier Christy Clark. During my time in the provincial legislature I served as Minister of 3 different portfolios. I first served as Minister of Community Development then Minister of Energy Mines and Petroleum Resources, and then served as Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure.
My wife Vicki and I have been married for 37 years and we have two wonderful daughters and five amazing grandchildren. Appointed by Premier Horgan as caribou community liaison April 2019.
