China remains the second largest trade partner for Canada and each of the western provinces – trade which continues to grow in the face of economic downturns in both countries. China is also the largest trade partner for over 120 economies, including those most important to  Western Canada. Given China’s de facto importance to Canadian, Indo-Pacific and global trade, the country is a key part of Canada’s Indo-Pacific strategy, the federal government’s overarching guide for Canadian political and economic engagement in the Asia.

Join Canada’s ambassador to China, H.E. Jennifer May, as she sits down for a fireside chat to unpack some of the complexities of the current state of Canada-China relations, China’s place in Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy as well as current political and economic events in China. The fireside chat will be followed by a Slido question and answer session.
