What does the Indo-Pacific Strategy mean for Western Canada?

Webinar | Monday, February 27, 2023

The federal government is reorganizing priorities and investing new resources to re-shape Canada’s engagement with the Indo-Pacific, a region that contains four of the top five export markets for each western province. Federal initiatives include the creation of a new agricultural trade office for the region. What is in the strategy and how will new initiatives, like a foreign ag office, impact western exporters? What is the response of western provincial governments and how will it help western exporters?  The feds have focused on Canada – but what does it mean for the West.

You, Your Supply Chain’s Supply Chain and Trouble at the Border

Webinar | Tuesday, February 28, 2023

An increasing number of laws and regulations focused on national security in the U.S. are impacting investment and the movement of goods in and out of Canada. Evolving U.S. rules target both inbound and potentially outbound foreign direct investment (FDI) and entire global supply chains back to individual product inputs (effectively, your supply chains’ supply chain). Greater government scrutiny, increased importer, exporter and investor responsibility and more punitive enforcement mechanisms are all potentially in the offing even for western Canadian firms that export primarily or solely to U.S. markets.

This webinar will focus on U.S. trade and investment regulatory issues with a review of what is and what is not expected to happen in the U.S., how Canadian firms have responded in the past and how businesses can prepare going forward.
