Jeff Mahon
Executive in Residence

Jeff Mahon joined Canada West Foundation as an Executive in Residence in December 2023, bringing extensive knowledge and experience to support CWF’s work in trade and trade infrastructure. Jeff’s professional career spans trade and investment policy, international business and global affairs. His government experience includes work at provincial, territorial and federal levels.

Jeff is currently Director of StrategyCorp’s International Business & Geopolitical Advisory Practice. His last government assignment was with Global Affairs Canada’s Greater China Division, where he served as Deputy Director covering a range of commercial and strategic files. He also worked as a Senior Advisor at Industry Canada’s Investment Review Division and Investment Attraction Directorate. Prior to joining the federal government, he was Nunavut’s Chief Negotiator for the Canada Free Trade Agreement (CFTA), where he spearheaded the creation of the Regulatory Reconciliation and Cooperation Table (RCT), an intergovernmental institution designed to reduce red tape and enable interprovincial business. He also founded an international trade brokerage company focused on Western Canadian agricultural exports to China. His interest in international business and commercial policy was sparked by an internship in the office of Saskatchewan’s Minister of Energy and Resources, which was also responsible for Intergovernmental Affairs.

Jeff is a recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal. With roots in Melfort, Saskatchewan and an alumnus of the University of Regina, Western Canadian issues have always been close to Jeff’s heart.
