Water, a valuable and irreplaceable resource that is too precious to be taken for granted. It is an integral part of our quality of life that is in need of careful and progressive stewardship. From the federal government to non-profit organizations, water policy must be viewed holistically and cooperation is needed to ensure the protection of watersheds and water quality.

Drop by Drop examines municipal water conservation policy in six large western Canadian cities, identifying a number of barriers to effective urban water conservation policy. In addition, this report also highlights a series of recommendations of how to overcome some of these barriers and to improve water conservation policy.

Water conservation is an important consideration for all Canadians, and a component of the Urban Water Management Initiative, which this report was prepared under by authors Robert Roach, Vien Huynh, and Sarah Dobson, of the Canada West Foundation.
